After an extended break the Castlecroft season starts on Saturday 19th September with the relatively short trip in the Staffordshire FA Challenge Cup to Wollgaston High School home to Penkridge Town FC.

Penkridge, who play on a new 3G facility part funded by the Football Foundation have been in explosive form in Division 2 of the Staffordshire County League and have high ambitions to move up through the leagues. The team based in the town which for many Wolverhampton residents is the gateway to the North and the motorway have notched 16 times in the first two games and will be a stern test for the Crofters, being placed approximately three divisions higher than the Wednesfield based team.

Never one to miss a trick the Crofter management team have acknowledged this uphill task by engaging twitter followers in a new hashtag #underdogheroes, where followers have been encouraged to tweet pictures of their favourite underdogs. The Crofters kicked things off with childhood favourites the might ducks who like Castlecroft sport the racing green in their team uniform.
